In-N-Out Burger in LA
In-N-Out Burger in LA. Ordered a Double-Double Protein style burger (lettuce wrap). It's not on the menu... you have to know to ask for it.

Today's version of Mama's Stew
Steamed
broccoli, diced smoked sausage, bone (or chicken) broth, splash of
heavy cream, salt and pepper. Topped with 2 eggs and cheddar cheese. I
make the eggs sunny-side up so when you break the yolk it becomes part
of the sauce. YUM! And simple.
Side of Hot Buttered Sweet "Rice" for a bit of sweetness after.
6 net carbs.

A1c = 4.5%
Our
best Endo appt ever today. Saw the Endo and Dietician today. We are very open about being low carb high protein and our insulin management
regimen. Absolutely nothing but praise from both of them. Feeling so
blessed today!
Golden Corral
I
probably haven't been to a buffet in a decade. After our Endo appt
today I had to find a new restaurant because our go-to closed. The
Golden Corral was close to our shopping so I thought we'd try it.
There's definitely a lot we couldn't eat there, but a good amount we
could. The salad bar with raw veggies of course. They had grilled
bone-in chicken, broiled fish and bacon. He went a little high
afterwards, but he tends to be high on Endo appt days just from the
adrenaline of going to the city. I also went a bit crazy on the protein
so some of it was a protein spike. Next time I'll know better. All
said, it was a good experience.

Endo Appt Prep
Thought
I'd post a different type of CGM data today. Tomorrow is our Endo appt
and I like to get a feel for what I think our Endo will say, where our
A1c will fall, look at Standard Deviation, etc.
This graph is so informative. It's looking at 90 days of data, broken down per hour. Each column is ALL of our finger pricks and CGM data for that hour for the past 90 days. Since we eat meals at set times we can look at this to see if we have any "trouble hours". (I look at this each week so I can see a smaller set of data.) We have a few highs and lows, but they're single dots, so they happened pretty rarely. You can't see individual dots in the 70-100 range because they're so concentrated. The black diamonds are the average BG for that hour over the past 90 days.
The top right shows Avg BG of 89 +- 25. That's the average BG of actual finger pricks... 89 mg/dL with a Standard Deviation of 25... showing we keep a pretty tight range (no sharp high/low swings). Below that shows Sensor Avg of 85 +- 23. That's the average of all his CGM sensor readings (usually about 100+ per day) with a Standard Deviation of 23.
Based on this info, I'm anticipating our A1c tomorrow to come in around the 4.6 range (I'm secretly hoping for a 4.5). He's been sick the past week so his BG has been much higher than normal. I'm hopeful this won't skew our A1c. We shall see!
One thing that is really cool, is how close the 90 day finger prick average and the CGM sensor average is. CGM's (especially Medtronic/Enlite) have a bad rap for being off a lot. This is definitely not our case and proves this to be a very useful tool for us. Not to mention it lets me sleep through the night on occassion.
Wish us luck tomorrow.

Bandana's BBQ
Out on a gorgeous day by myself for some Mommy-alone-time. Shopping
and the STL Symphony are the plan. And lunch. I could cheat... no one
is with me. But I'm not.
Smoked turkey, green beans, side salad and coffee. About 4 net carbs. I have some Lily's chocolate in my purse for dessert, so add 1 more carb.

Fried Cheese Ravioli
I've
been meaning to post these for a while. They are SO good. I have to
be in the right mood to make them because they can be a tad time
consuming. And if I use prosciutto, well, expletives tend to want to
come out of my mouth if I'm short on time. I've also used thin ham
which tastes great and is much easier to work with, but it's not sticky
like prosciutto so you have to hold your ravioli packages together with
toothpicks. Definitely give them a try though!
